I am Temple of Cyclone, Therefore I Am

Cyclone Temple was a metal/thrash band from the early 90s that released their magnum opus on Combat Records in 1991, entitled “I Hate Therefore I Am.” There are subsequent releases after this one, but this particular album is the only one with the quartet’s original lineup. I remember that a friend in high school gave me an advanced cassette of this album with a red j-card without the original artwork. I was a sophomore and this album I gravitated towards in a big way. The lyrics of “Why” is full of teenage angst and rebellion and on that same thread, “Words Are Just Words,” plows through with its pummeling rhythm.

Personnel: Greg (Ian) Fulton on lead (and rhythm) guitars, Scott Schafer on bass, John Slattery (fast frigging’ feet) on drums, and Brian Troch on lead vocals. The guitars on this album are absolutely great throughout the record with its complex rhythms, textures and tones are phenomenal. I Hate Therefore I Am is still my favorite thrash record from that era of metal and thrash
